The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment 2020 Progress Report

How do you create a world where plastic pollution is no longer a problem? This is the key question driving the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment initiative led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Their second annual progress report illustrates how far companies have come in achieving their 2025 plastic packaging targets. Increasing the use of recycled plastic is a key aim and has increased by 22% across all companies since last year. However, this only represents 6.2% across total packaging volume, which means that there is still a long way to go. With discarded plastic littering coastlines, we encourage companies to commit to their goals and call on consumers to support them by showing a preference for recycled plastic.
