Crystal Palace F.C. x KURE partnership welcomed by Prevented Ocean Plastic

Earlier this year, English Premier League heavyweights Crystal Palace F.C. announced Prevented Ocean Plastic partner brand KURE as their official Oxygen Partner.

Prevented Ocean Plastic work to collect and recycle plastic waste from at-risk coastlines around the world, preventing ocean plastic pollution at scale. The programme ensures that collected plastic is delivered to centres where it is sorted, cleaned, and ready to be recycled into new products with full traceability back to its coastline of collection. In places where no such infrastructure exists, Prevented Ocean Plastic invest and build, creating safe, dignified spaces and generating work that wouldn’t otherwise exist.

KURE is a partner brand of the Prevented Ocean Plastic programme, meaning that to make every KURE bottle purchased by Crystal Palace, two plastic bottles would have been collected and prevented from entering the ocean.

Barry Webber, Chief Commercial Officer of Crystal Palace, says, “We are delighted to be partnering with a sustainably driven brand like KURE. KURE are as passionate about protecting the planet as they are about delivering quality products, and we’re excited to have them onboard as our official oxygen water partner.”

Over the initial term it is projected that more than 1 million plastic bottles will be prevented from entering the ocean as a direct result of this partnership.

Raffi Schieir, Director of Bantam Materials UK Ltd. and Founder of Prevented Ocean Plastic programme, says, “We are thrilled to be working with KURE oxygenated water and welcome their new partnership with Crystal Palace. It’s enormously exciting to see two brands with such strongly aligned values come together in such a powerful way. This partnership will help ensure ongoing plastic collection from coastal communities that lack waste management infrastructure and create much needed employment opportunities in those areas. We congratulate both organisations for bringing this partnership to life.”

Andrew Blow, Chief Product Officer at KURE concluded, “Kure is a business that thinks seriously about how we source, deliver and consume materials and we are relentless in our commitment to meeting and exceeding industry standards in manufacturing and quality. Very soon, all our plastic bottles will be manufactured from 100 per cent certified Prevented Ocean Plastic material, meaning tangible improvements to our environment, and preventing millions of plastic bottles from entering our oceans and waterways.”

Prevented Ocean Plastic is also aligning with Palace for Life, the official charity of Crystal Palace Football Club, to distribute co-branded refillable water bottles into the South London community.

Prevented Ocean Plastic is determined to tackle ocean plastic pollution and encourage better choices throughout the Premier League and beyond.
