What is Prevented Ocean Plastic?

Prevented Ocean Plastic is recycled plastic collected from coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution.

This ocean-bound plastic, according to academic definitions, would likely end up in the ocean if not collected for recycling.

So far we have prevented over 2.5 billion bottles from reaching the ocean

How we Work

Waste plastic is picked up by collectors in areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution.

The plastic is taken to local centres where collectors are paid for their work.

Upon arrival the plastic (including lots and lots of bottles) is sorted and pressed together for transport to plastic recycling factories.

At the factory, the plastic is washed, sanitised and processed into raw materials called flakes or pellets, all done to the same quality standards you’d expect in the UK.

The recycled plastic is ready to become sustainable recycled packaging for new products, with certified traceability all the way back to the coastline it was collected from. Offering you a better plastic choice.
