When it comes to sustainable packaging, consumers are clear- there should be better, clearer choices, and more simple steps to help make a difference to the environment.
Kantar, the world’s leading marketing data and analytics company, polled almost 2000 shoppers across eight leading UK supermarkets to assess attitudes towards sustainability and recycled packaging.
Taking fresh fish purchases as an example of consumer habits, this research found that 62% of shoppers are actively trying to buy products packaged in an environmentally friendly way, while 60% are seeking better plastic choices, and the majority want to reduce their impact on the environment with 75% willing to make changes to their shopping habits to achieve this.
Ultimately consumers want to make better choices.

Additionally, nearly half (43%) said they would buy the products in Prevented Ocean Plastic packaging because it’s better for the environment.
The research shows that purchasing Prevented Ocean Plastic packaging would make people feel like they are making a difference.
For consumers, seeing the logo means they know they are protecting the oceans and marine life from pollution, supporting people working in materials collection in developing countries across the world, cutting the need for more virgin plastic, and driving up standards across the ocean-bound plastic recycling industry.
