A Look Back: Packaging Innovations and EMPACK 2024

Last week, Prevented Ocean Plastic™ exhibited at our first trade show of 2024.

We were proud to present our solution at the Packaging Innovations and Empack show in Birmingham, our first time with a stand at the two-day event. The annual gathering of packaging professionals hosted a record 454 suppliers split across three events- Packaging Innovations, Empack, and Contract Pack & Fulfilment- each creating a focused environment for packaging designers, developers, buyers and suppliers to meet and do business.

“Being a UK business, we felt it was important to exhibit at this fantastic trade show. We met many people across the packaging and brands space over the two days and were gratified to see the interest in sustainable solutions has grown,” said Social Media and Events Lead, Melisa Kumas

Alongside Kumas, the Prevented Ocean Plastic™ team was rounded out by Founder and Director Raffi Schieir, Commercial Lead Ben Tingley, and, making his show debut for Prevented Ocean Plastic™, Packaging Technology Lead Dan McBirney. But our booth wasn’t the only place where you could hear about our Programme.

Exhibiting across the halls of the biggest edition of the exhibition yet were our partners Berry Global, Spectra Packaging, and Pretium who showed the various options customers could choose as their packaging made from Prevented Ocean Plastic™ materials.

During the first day of the trade show the team spoke to a wide net of people across the industry. The booth was visited in numbers so large that our team received messages from callers that they would return once it was less busy to come and have a chat.

At the booth we proudly presented samples of Prevented Ocean Plastic™ material next to a wide range of partner brand products from Treaclemoon shower gels to Hana Sushi trays and NHS test kits.

The second day saw another steady stream of interested parties wanting to know more about the work behind Prevented Ocean Plastic™ as well as brands wanting to introduce the material into their own products.

McBirney highlighted the spirit of partnership and collaboration in the air at the show: “It was so rewarding to tell our story, hear the excited responses to our solution first-hand, and engage with so many people intent on making better packaging choices, cleaning up the environment, and supporting the circular economy.”

Prevented Ocean Plastic™ were so proud to present at Packaging Innovations and Empack. It was our first show of the year, but it won’t be the last. The team thank everyone who visited our booth for being interested in the work we do, and we look forward to speaking to you again soon.
